A musician's point of view

Response is felt before it can be described.

The collection began in 2009 from a performer's understanding that rosin is not merely an accessory. Its grip, release and consistency shape articulation, color, projection and confidence. Those concerns guide every formula CECILIA makes.

Each cake is hand-poured in the United States. The scale has grown, but the maker's relationship to the material has not: formulas are evaluated through the hands and ears of a working violinist.

Why CECILIA

A name with two meanings.

CECILIA is the patron saint of musicians. It is also the name of Peter Bahng's beloved mother, who passed away in 2019. When the collection entered a new era in 2020, the name became both a tribute to her life and a commitment to musicians everywhere.

“Because you are a true artist creating your own unique and exquisite masterpiece, you must keep searching and experiencing something new, something different, and something more special so that you continue to discover and expand the possibilities of your instrument. And those possibilities are literally unlimited.”
